Delivery Methods.

Summer orders (March - September):

Plants are usually despatched from Tuesday to Thursday via Royal Mail or by courier.

Autumn/Winter orders:

Plants will now only be despatched from March onwards. If orders are placed from September 09 onwards, these will not be despatched out until the beginning of next season (March 2010). With Winter now on its way, this will provide us with time to propagate our ever expanding range of exotics.

Packaging:

We have recently changed to packaging our plants into specially designed plant boxes. They seem to be a lot better than our old cardboard tubes and generally hold the plants more securely. The boxes have special cardboard inserts which hold the plant inside, therefore in the event the plant is placed the wrong side up it is unlikely to get squashed!
All our plants are covered by insurance in case of damage in transit.
In the unlikely event of plants arriving damaged, we must be notified within three working days, otherwise there can be no liability. Likewise please provide detailed photos of any damage to the plant(s), we'll then be able to initiate insurance proceedings. Failure to provide photos will result in no refund or replacement.

International Shipment Info:

Please note, the prices stated on this website are based on UK next day delivery only. If you wish to order plants from outside the UK, then shipping costs may differ. Shipments are usually despatched within 10 working days by British Airways World Cargo.

An import permit as well as a phyto health certificate in most cases will need to be issued. We are charged £40.50 for a phyto health certificate. It is up to the buyer to obtain an import permit from their plant health department.

Plants will require to be picked up from your local airport and customs duties may need to be paid upon collection. Insurance is included with the plant(s) despatched.

(Rome Mango Order)

Dear David.
I would just like to say how pleased Martin Inglin our head gardener is with your mango tree.
It was absolutely beautifully packed, arrived in good health, is settling down by the Roman wall generally happy with life.
It takes quite a lot to have Martin in this state of euphoria . I think graduates of the Züricher Hochschule für Gärtnerei are by definition permanent discontents - they never think things are quite right- which makes them fantastic gardeners.
It was a real triumph to effect this transport so well as you did through all the Roman chaos and certainly you did not spare any trouble to follow everything step by step as you did.
Wish everyone was like that. Transport to Italy is notoriously a hot potato.
We will be back, am very impressed by your list and can see quite a lot we need!!
Millions of thanks.

Thanks a million

ODILE  TALIANI

(Greece Order)

Dear David,

I wanted to write and let you know how grateful I was for all the time and
effort you put into the organisation and export of the lime tree to my
girlfiend's parents in Greece. They have lived in Kefalonia for 12 years
and although they love their life still miss some of the produce we can
readily purchase in the UK. The lime tree was described as perfect with 6
baby limes and they were astounded with the standard of packing involved in
the transportation.

I am also grateful for keeping me regularly updated with the progress of the
inspection and informing me of realistic timescales. If you throught we
would now leave you in peace you are much mistaken, as I know you will now
be contacted for different fruit trees so they can grow all the fruit they
miss. Your next mission, if you choose to accept it, is an Indian Mango.

Many thanks

Simon Jenkins

(Spain Kaffir Lime & Lilly Pilly Order)

Dear David,

I was impressed by the good conditions the kaffir lime and lilly pilly trees arrived in, as well as by the fantastic packaging.
My trees are now thriving and are already 3 times the size as when they arrived in spring!!! The kaffir limes already have fruit (but i took them off so they wont loose strength).
I really appreciate the fabulous communication with David, he's been great handling the situation to be able to send the trees to Spain within shortly.

I hope this testimony is good for you (it's completely sincere!!!)

Best regards and have a nice day,

Tatiana García Resenberg

About David's Exotic Plants...

I was very happy dealing with David Hamer, from David's Exotic Plants. For years I had been trying to get a mango tree for my terrace, but plants were either unavailable, or not available for export into the EU. Through a website, I finally got David's website address, and I contacted him straight away. One week later I had my tree (despite stuborness of our local post services in delivering it!), and I thanked David for that. But, as because of a mishandling the main branch of the tree was broken, David just sent me a second tree, which arrived sound and good and is now part of my collection. Now I hope this is not all in my dealings with David, as I already mentioned him that I've also been running after a cacao tree... Would David's Exotic Plants obtain one for me? A second chapter of my story may well be soon available...

Regards

Xavier
